We often think of OTC pain medicines such as ibuprofen, acetaminophen and aspirin as harmless with the attitude that, "it can't hurt you".  Taken occasionally for  aches and pains is one thing, taking it for any length of time can cause all kinds of problems including GI disturbance, rebound headaches and a host of other medical conditions.  This recent study raises the possibility of fertility issues in males that are taking it.  For couples struggling with fertility issues, some careful thought should be given as to the use of ibuprofen.  This CNN webpage details some of the issues with ibuprofen.  With problems emerging with OTC pain medications and the ongoing opioid crisis; alternative pain control methods including chiropractic, acupuncture and massage therapy should be considered.
